Lancaster City Council - Free Handy Person Scheme

The Handyperson Scheme is intended to help you to maintain your independence in your own home and to enhance the quality of your life.

Who Can Apply?
If you live in your own home you can apply for assistance from the Handyperson. You, and if applicable, your partner, also have to be aged 60 or over, or alternatively, you and/or your partner have to be receiving either Disabled Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance.

Please Note:
If you, or your partner, are in full or part-time employment, or you have a relative living in your home with you, you will not be eligible for assistance from the Handyperson.

What Jobs Qualify?
Qualification depends on the scale and cost of the works required. The Handyperson will only undertake small scale jobs. Where jobs are too large or costly for the Handyperson to consider, he will help you to access the grant system or other sources of finance, where available, so you can get the repairs to your home done.
