THE MINUTES of the last meeting were agreed and signed.
MATTERS ARISING: The new notice boards are in place in the bus shelter.
CORRESPONDENCE: Various items received and circulated. The council decide not to enter the Lancashire Best kept Village competition this year.
Requests for funding from charities are often received. The council gives regularly to some e.g. NW Air Ambulance, others, like the Local office of Age Concern, have received a donation when in particular need. The Council did not respond to requests at this meting but they will be kept on file for consideration later.
FINANCIAL MATTERS: Current Acc. £395.44; Bonus savings Acc. £2060.68.
Authorised at the meeting, Ch.No. 000344: £125.00 to T. Sedgwick in payment for making and erecting two notice boards.
OTHER MATTERS: Cllr. Hodgson sought and received the Council's support for his suggestion that the meetings of the Lancashire Association of Local Councils circulate, meeting in villages, including Whittington rather than just Morecambe and Lancaster.
It was confirmed that children are permitted to play behind the village hall but should be supervised if playing ball games since several windows have been broken.
The very poor state of the highways in the parish was discussed. Clerk to contact County Councillor Susie Charles to urge action to repair the surfaces which are dangerous to cyclists and likely to damage cars. Copies to be sent to; the Police, Highways Dept., Cllr. Williamson, Geraldine Smith MP and Clive Holt (Traffic). The footway in front of the pub is also dangerous.
A lot of litter is being dropped along Church Brow and around Docker. The Police to be alerted to this.
The next meeting will be on 5th May 2009. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
The ANNUAL PARISH MEETING will be held in Whittington Village hall at 8pm on Tuesday 28th April. Parishioners are welcome to attend and raise points for consideration by the Parish Council.
