WHITTINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting
held on 3rd July 2007

 

  1. PRESENT:
    G. Hodgson
    J.E. Lawson
    R. Mackereth
    E. Pelter
    PC Jude Knowles
    PCSO Annette Hoover

  2. THE MINUTES of the last meeting [AGM] were agreed and signed.

  3. POLICE REPORT: PC Jude Knowles was introduced to the council. She is the new Community Beat Manager for the area.

    PCSO Hoover had approached QES about pupils speeding en route to school. The Headteacher is happy to work with the police to alert young drivers of the danger.

    The Road Policing Unit has been active in the area, issuing several fixed penalty tickets for speeding recently. It is hoped that the flashing speed detector will be made available to this area soon.

    PC Knowles will follow up complaints about work vans obstructing Main Street in the morning.

  4. MATTERS ARISING: The Council adopted the new Model Code of Conduct with the exclusion of paragraph 12(2). The councillors completed the form to register their financial and other interests.

  5. CORRESPONDENCE: Various items received; clerk to write to Mr Jason Dakin to assure him that the council had no concerns about the planning application to erect a dwelling for a gamekeeper in the rearing field at West Hall Lane and had raised no objection with Lancaster City Council.

  6. FINANCES: Current Acc. £2998.71. Bonus Savings Acc. £300.26
    Councillors resolved to transfer £1500.00 from the current account to the savings account.
    Cheques signed at the meeting; No. 315 £57.46 to Shaw and Sons Ltd (new accounts book)
    No. 316 £10 00 for local audit
    No. 317 £250.00 clerk's salary.

  7. PLANNING:No. 07/00769/FUL For: Mr and Mrs J. McCormick
    For: Erection of conservatory at the rear.
    At: 2, Rectory Gardens, Church Street, Whittington, Carnforth LA6 2NS

  8. OTHER MATTERS:
    The judging for the Annual Floral Competition will take place in July. Cllr. Lawson will discuss the railings to be painted with Mr Harper.

    The next meeting will be at 8pm on Tuesday 4th September in Whittington Village Hall, all parishioners are welcome to attend.
