Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting
held on 6th March 2007

 

  1. PRESENT: Cllrs. S. Close

  2. APOLOGIES:

  3. The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed and signed.

  4. POLICE REPORT: PC Winder reported no crime in the parish since the last meeting. He introduced PCSO Annette Hoover who has joined the team with responsibility for this area.

  5. CORRESPONDENCE: Various items were noted and the clerk instructed to complete and return the DTI Consultation document on the future of the Post Office network. A proposal for local parishes to support the cost of an extra police car in Carnforth was discussed and councillors decided to wait until further information was available.

  6. FINANCES: Current Acc.: £233.87, Bonus Saver Acc.: £796.26
    Cheques signed at the meeting; Ch. No.310 £150.00, donation to Wagtail Playgroup;
    Ch.No.311 £84.41, LAPTC affiliation fees £84.41;
    Ch. No. 312 £250.00, Clerk's salary.
    Monies received; £160 - Whittington Hall Estates for Sporting Rights on the Town Quarry.
    The Council agreed to transfer £500 from the Bonus Savings Acc. to the current acc.

  7. PLANNING:
    Application No. 07/00033/FUL
    For: Dr. and Mrs N Chase
    Erection of a single storey extension to South East elevation.
    At; Newton Green Farmhouse, Docker Lane, Whittington, Carnforth, LA6 2PA

    Application No. 07/00146/FUL
    For: Mr A Reid
    For: Erection of a two storey extension to provide residential accommodation, garaging, auxiliary accommodation and pool building.

    Permission granted for:
    Application No. 06/01351/FUL
    For: Mr and Mrs C. Conway
    At: Newton Green Barn, Docker Lane, Newton, Whittington. LA6 2PA
    For: Alteration to fenestration on SE elevation

  8. OTHER MATTERS:
    Cllr. Hodgson had noticed waste from Council road repairs dumped in the hedgerow and reported this. The work was done by contractors. The County Council will inspect the area and take action as necessary.

    The clerk was asked to report a damaged road sign at Newton, an overflowing culvert at Docker and potholes by the seat on Kirkby Lonsdale Rd.

    The Parish meeting will be on Tuesday 24th April. Parishioners are invited to attend at 8pm to hear the Chairman's report and the financial report and raise any issues for the attention of the Parish Council in the coming year.

    The Council decide to enter the Lancashire Best Kept Village competition again - papers not yet received - clerk to enquire.
