POLICE REPORT: PC. Winder reported the theft of a tractor from Newton in August and an attempted burglary. Councillors reported an increase in speeding through Newton, combined with dangerous overtaking. PC.Winder will follow this up.

MATTERS ARISING: The report of the network officer from Countryside Services who inspected Burrow Mill Lane stated , " The surface is to a good standard and any drainage work that needs to be done is the responsibility of the landowner." Clerk will contact them to query this.
Footways; That by Leighton House is due to be repaired this September. The request to tarmac the short stretch by the repaired Church wall was noted by Highways.
The poor sighting at the junction of Hosticle Lane would be very expensive to change because of the amount of soil behind the walls. A mirror was suggested. Clerk to make enquiries about this with the appropriate authorities.
The clerk reported that the authorities will investigate the erection of several small buildings on Docker Lane brought to the Council's attention by residents.

CORRESPONDENCE: Various items have been received and were noted.
The Council supported the campaign for the Sustainable Communities Bill and will make the City and District Councillors and Geraldine Smith MP aware of this.

OTHER MATTERS: Cllr. Hodgson reported from the meeting of the Lancaster Area Rural Road Safety Committee meeting that a number of reductions were made to the highway maintenance budget totalling more than one million pounds which gives cause for concern.
A poppy wreath will be laid on Remembrance Sunday by the Parish Council to commemorate the Parish's war dead.
