Whittington Point to Point Whittington Hall Long Walk

As a rural community it is hardly surprising that animals form an important part of the village. In the length of Main Street alone there are four farms. Within the Parish boundaries there are another six. In addition ownership of horses is quite common. The photograph on the right above shows the Long Walk, from St. Michael's Church to the gate adjacent to South Lodge. The path passes between two Whittington Hall padocks housing Lady Reay's horses. Twice yearly there are point to point races in the village. Easter Saturday sees the local hunt event and a week or so earlier we host the Holcombe hunt races.

Rememberance SundayJumble SalePensioners Lunch

St. Michael's Church, The Village Hall and the Dragons Head Inn are the popular venues for functions in Whittington. Pictured above is the laying of the wreath on Remembrance Sunday. The village hall hosts many events, such as the antiques and collectable sale pictured above, together with performances by the Spot On touring company, the monthly coffee morning, private functions such as birthday parties and ever popular dances. The Dragons Head provides the venue for the weekly pensioners lunch, much enjoyed for the quality of the food and the opportunity for a good chat.
